A new restaurant opened in Norway, Maine. 76 Pleasant Street. It is located on a side street off of Main Street. A beautifully restored gracious home. The menu was amazing! To hard to choose! I settled on the evening special, soft shell crab and prawns with an app of crab cakes. Yes, I really like crab! It was perfect! My husband had an incredible pork shank with a roasted beet salad, phenomenal! Our friends had blacked scallops and shrimp and butternut squash soup, and duck and blue cheese and fig panetini, equally as good!! We would have love to have dessert, but we were just to full. If you have a chance to go, please do. I know you will enjoy it!

Off to the Boston Flower Show!

There must be something about me and flower shows! Snowing again!! It's okay, we were off to see spring again! We lost the snow within ten miles of home. It turned to rain! We were in Boston by eleven, dodged a few more rain drops and entered the show. The first thing we saw were Subaru's! No flowers just cars!! Strange for a flower show! There were some very beautiful displays. There were very few exhibitors to answer questions. I found it strange to find hosta and daffodils, blooming, planted side by side in a garden. Banana trees, I didn't know they grew here! There was a grouping of large planters. One was made of birch twigs, it made a great presentation. The favorite for me was the raised beds garden with the enormous blue adirondack chair. It was staffed by a wonderful group of volunteers, most having been involved in the growing of the vegetables and herbs. There were so many vendors, row after row! Some were selling garden related items, very few. It was more like a flea market! Cloths, rugs, shows, you name it it was there! I would much rather had more garden displays. Given the two shows my friend and I attended, we enjoyed the Portland show the best! We were a bit hungry by three. To the North End we went! Found a parking space and headed for Fiories! It was amazing! We have gone for many years and each time it is so memorable, the sauces, the pasta, the bread, the veggies and the tiramisu! Perfection!

It was a pleasant ride home, the rain had stopped and the roads were dry. That lasted until we turned on to our road! Snow again, I know spring is soon. I did see a robin the other day!

Flower Shows in New England

We started off in a snow storm on our adventure of the day! It is very beautiful, but it is mid March! Portland was overcast, windy and raw. The moment we entered the door of the show, it was magical! Flowers every where! The fragrance, the colors it just enveloped you! The displays were amazing! My favorite was the Beehive! The use of flowers, color and design, just made you smile. The stone work in many of the exhibits was so inspiring. The combinations of stone, brick, granite and wood, so many ideas! Water gardens, small and large, something for everyone. It was so nice to have the exhibitors there to speak to. It was great to talk to them about their displays. They were so informative about our growing conditions and what was best for our areas. All the time we were surrounded by the beauty of the show and by the people so enjoying this much needed breath of spring! I stopped by Maplecrest Lilies and got more bulbs to add to my garden. I can't seem to get enough of them!! It was still rainy and gray but our breath of spring time should hold us for awhile! It is lighter later and the temperatures seem to hit 50 more often. We see the snow banks receding! It won't be long before we are planting!

New England Boat Show

We had a wonderful time at the boat show! Every size boat, sail, power, large, small, wood, or composite, something for everyone! The Landing School from Kennebunkport was there, displaying one of the hand crafted boat. What a work of art! It is on its way to California! It took us several hours to tour the show. A refurbished Herrshoff 121/2 tug at my heart strings, my first real sailboat! We went on several boats, spoke with reps about the new technologies. Boating certainly has changed over the years. And so many!! Every where you look, fields, roadsides, yards and even a few gardens! It is truly a wild flower! Maine's state flower! Varying shades of purples, blues, pinks and whites, tall spikes with soft green foliage, they take your breath away. Painters, photographers, everyone trying to capture the beauty of the lupines! Compass Harbor is one of my favorite spots to see the lupine. The colorful spears waving in the breeze with the beautiful blue bay and islands in the the back ground! We are so lucky to be surrounded by this beauty! All the spring flowers have been just incredible this year. Take time to enjoy the beauty around you!!

Four Friends

We were so luck to have four ladies share their reunion with us!!
